Preview: Annual Indigenous Winter Market returns for a second year – Western Gazette

The Wampum Learning Lodge is hosting its second annual Indigenous Winter Market that features over 30 Indigenous art, craft and food vendors this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m..

Attendees can purchase a wide range of products, including honey, beeswax products, beadwork, soaps, body washes, artwork and more.

“For me personally, as someone who’s kind of a Grinch and it’s very hard for me to get into the Christmas spirit, but when I see Christmas done in our own way, it’s a lot easier for me to align with,” said Laura Ramirez, an organizer and project associate at the Wampum Learning Lodge.

This year, in collaboration with a Black and Indigenous basketball organization, Dream Catchers Basketball, the learning lodge will organize a basket shootout competition — where players aim to score the greatest number of baskets — to engage the younger community members.
