Consultant hired to establish working group, with final report and recommendations expected early next year.
A consultant has been retained to help with public engagement on the future of Wilmot’s prime minister statues, with efforts to begin immediately to create a working group with balanced representation from within the township.
Four submissions were reviewed by staff and council members Kris Wilkinson and Steven Martin as part of a request-for-proposals process, with the successful submission from Land Use Research Associates Inc. (LURA).
LURA will advance previous work conducted on behalf of the township by the First People’s Group, using a collaborative approach to help to determine the path forward for the statues that were placed in storage following protests outside Castle Kilbride in Baden in 2020 and 2021.
