The second annual REDress installation is coming to Pelham on Friday (November 25) with the unveiling to be held at 1:45 pm on the flag pole at Meridian Community Centre (100 Meridian Way).
The purpose of hanging red dresses is to bring awareness during the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence & Violence against Women, particularly missing Indigenous women.
As well as opening remarks from Mayor Marvin Junkin, the president of the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) Welland and District, Kathy Shaw, will speak and representatives from the Niagara Regional Native Centre will be sharing parts of their families’ stories and providing a drumming/singing display.
