Sask. brings home four medals after Day One of competition at North American Indigenous Games – northeastNOW

Saskatchewan has claimed four medals after day one of the North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) in Halifax.

All four of those medals came in the women’s canoe/kayak events, including a gold for Elena Deschambeault in the 3,000-metre MC1 19U female event.

Summer Dusterbeck of Pelican Narrows claimed silver in the 3,000-metre MC1 14U female race with Elia Bolme winning silver in the 19U 3000 metre kayak event.

The bronze medal of the day went to Luliana Reimer-Marion in the K1 3,000-metre 14U female event.

The Saskatchewan Box Lacrosse teams were also in action on Monday as the 16U male team fell 9-7 to B.C. while the 19U female team is 1-1 after a loss to Alberta and a win against Manitoba. The 19U male team lost both opening games to Alberta and Manitoba.
