Contracted company responsible for shipping out materials and processing them in the south
Hazardous, yes. But not to the environment in Iqaluit anymore.
Over the course of five household hazardous waste collection days held this year in the city, residents dropped off 81 automotive batteries, 141 five-litre cans of paint, 44 litres of oil and 46 aerosol cans, according to a City of Iqaluit news release Tuesday.
All those items were diverted from going to the landfill where they would have been a risk to the environment, the release said.
