The Opportunity
Our Land Management Services Team is seeking a highly skilled, values-based leader as Senior Indigenous Advisor. Reporting to the Manager of Land Advisory and Client Services, the position will advise and support senior leadership and program delivery teams regarding Indigenous engagement and collaboration related to federal and provincial Crown lands.
You will research and consult with internal and external stakeholders to develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate policies and programs, review legal frameworks and lead development of an Indigenous engagement strategy for provincial highway and municipal road projects. Our candidate will be strategic, have superior interpersonal and communication skills, be effective at facilitation, conflict management, negotiation, and consensus-building that fosters positive working relationships with First Nations organizations, Métis Locals, and Indigenous communities. Your outstanding engagement skills will lead in building an awareness within the ministry of Indigenous culture, history, and traditions. Knowledge and or work-related experience with government processes are an asset.
Typically, the knowledge and abilities required for this position are obtained through a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Indigenous Studies, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or Public Engagement. Additional certification in human relationship disciplines such as mediation, negotiation, facilitation, conflict resolution, leadership and communications, and in strategic thinking would be an asset. An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
