The Village of St. Pierre-Jolys celebrated its Franco-Manitoban and Métis heritage this week, with two special flag-raising ceremonies, marking an important moment for the community. Mayor Raymond Maynard said that neither of these flags had ever been flown in front of the Village Offices.

The first ceremony was held on Monday, September 16, and though it was a stormy evening, Council and dignitaries attended, noting the importance of the event to the community.

Maynard spoke to the first flag-raising, “We are celebrating our Franco-Manitoban heritage and culture. It’s important for the village and all our residents.” Although the ceremony took place a week after Franco-Manitoban Day, officially recognized on September 12th.
