Take Our Kids to Work 2024

Press Release

October 31, 2024

Join the Department of Education on Take Our Kids to Work Day, November 6, 2024. This is a day set aside every year to give Grade 9 students across Nunavut the opportunity to experience a day in the life of a working professional.

Take our Kids to Work Day is a Canada-wide program dedicated to inspiring the next generation of leaders. The event is led by the Students Commission of Canada and is supported by the Grade 9 Nunavut curriculum.

Participating students will get hands-on experience in various professions as they consider potential career paths. Parents and guardians can showcase their workplace and allow their kids to observe them in a real work environment.

This year’s theme is Breaking Barriers, Transforming Communities. We hope employers wholeheartedly welcome students into their workplace, and recognize that the student’s career path directly contributes to the communities they live and work in.

The department values Take Our Kids to Work Day as it allows students the chance to:

  • Explore a variety of careers, industries, and sectors that complement Aulajaaqtut classes.
  • Learn essential skills to thrive in the workplace.
  • Discover a range of career options.
  • Recognize the value of education in a broader and practical context.

Resource guides for educators, families, and employers can be found on the Students Commission of Canada website.
