Nunavut athletes competing in three sports at event being held in Nova Scotia

Athletes from Team Nunavut join the parade at the opening ceremony of the North American Indigenous Games on Sunday night at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax. Eekeeluak Avalak, who won a gold medal in wrestling last summer at the Canada Summer Games, was the team’s flagbearer. Nunavut sent more than 60 athletes and staff to the event and will compete in wrestling, badminton and volleyball.
