Two years ago today the Costa Concorida hit ground of the coast of Italy. In order minimize environmental impact a $300 Million (USD) contract to raise, refloat and tow the ship to a nearby salvage yard for dismantlement was awarded to a Florida based company. So far, the ship has been raised and costs have soared over $800 million. The entire process is expected to be complete this year.
