The Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) announced the moratorium would be lifted June 26, which received varying reactions across the province.
The Qalipu First Nation responded in a press release on July 17, stating its disappointment in the decision and the lack of consultation with Indigenous peoples in the province.
