Unlike some others in the province, the NunatuKavut Community Council (NCC) president is happy to see the northern cod moratorium come to an end.
The Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) announced the moratorium would be lifted June 26, which received varying reactions across the province.
The Qalipu First Nation responded in a press release on July 17, stating its disappointment in the decision and the lack of consultation with Indigenous peoples in the province.
