Thursday’s letters: Hinshaw firing needs judicial scrutiny – Edmonton Journal

In a move best described as archetypal colonialism, AHS hires, then fires Dr. Hinshaw before she can begin work with the Indigenous Wellness Core.

Previously, the politicians were happy to pull the trigger when it came to deciding which public health measures would be enacted but when faced with the resultant public backlash, they were quick to hand the smoking gun to their straw dog, Dr. Hinshaw, who they fired once it was felt that the worst of the pandemic was past.

It must be a record to fire someone from the same organization, from two high-profile positions in less than a year. Her second firing is a classic example of always ensuring that someone else swings the axe. This allows those occupying the upper tiers of the organizational chart to use their weasel words to wrap themselves in the cloak of plausible deniability.
