Press Releases
TNDC is pleased to provide an update on creation of the TNDC Joint Support Team (JST), previously the Joint Personnel Committee, to which Angela Adsit, Director of Corporate Culture, was appointed to lead. The name was changed to better demonstrate the function of the Team.
PURPOSE
The JST, announced in August 2024, will serve as a vital link between employees and management, focusing on improving the workplace environment and resolving conflict. It will also be instrumental in ensuring Tahltans have a voice in our business and integrating Tahltan culture into our decision-making processes. We aim to build trust, foster mutual understanding and a positive, inclusive workplace, drive positive change throughout our organization by working together, and ensure all voices are heard.
MEMBERS
The committee comprises eight employee representatives nominated by their peers: two from each of the Crow and Wolf crews, one representing the Dease Lake shop and Airport, one for other projects (Skeena/Galore), and one for remote office staff. A Tahltan Elder representative rounds out the committee. Meet the Members below.
PROGRESS UPDATES
The team has met several times. Discussion has focused on addressing – in strict confidence – employee concerns and identifying solutions to resolve them. To support them in their role, the members are being mentored in handling and resolving concerns. They will also receive conflict resolution and sensitivity training to support a safe, inclusive and respectful workplace.
WHAT’S NEXT
The JST will meet every second Friday to discuss issues and challenges at TNDC and review and revise TNDC’s HR Policies to ensure alignment with Tahltan values.
SHARING CONCERNS CONFIDENTIALLY
Employees are encouraged to share concerns with your team representative or Angela (angela.adsit@tndc.ca). Any concerns brought forward will be held in the strictest confidence.
CONTRIBUTIONS
We thank the inaugural JST members for their contribution and commitment, and we encourage all employees to get involved by sharing their concerns. Their participation and support are crucial to support TNDC in promoting a positive and inclusive workplace and making a meaningful impact on our workplace culture and environment.
