On Saturday afternoon, thousands of people gathered in Vancouver to protest the proposed Enbridge pipeline.
Social activist group Defend Our Climate organized the event, which started around Science World. Although this rally was aimed at protesting the proposed Enbridge Northern Gateway pipeline project, it was part of a larger, national day of action which took place in over 100 communities across Canada.
Throughout the afternoon, a variety of speakers addressed the crowd. A number of them were First Nations speakers from the Coast Salish nation, who kicked off the event by welcoming the protestors. Other notable speakers included Tzeporah Berman, a B.C. environmental author, and Sam Harrison, the leader of Kids for Climate Action.
