When traveling to a different country, one of the first things you’re going to learn is how to say “hello.”
But what about the languages that are Indigenous to Turtle Island? Turtle Island is a term used by some Indigenous people to describe the North American continent.
Did you know that there are around 80 Indigenous languages spoken in Canada and approximately 169 Indigenous languages spoken in the United States?
Earlier this summer, the North American Indigenous Games brought more than 5,000 athletes together in Halifax, Nova Scotia, with many different language groups represented.
