Water treatment plant upgrades long time coming at Long Plain First Nation – PortageOnline

Aug 08 2023

Long Plain First Nation has been in dire need of water treatment improvements for some time. That’s from Councillor Marvin Daniels who says it’s going to begin this fall and has been in the works for a couple of years.

“It’s been problematic with it. We’re running out of water once in a while,” says Daniels. “So, it needs to be upgraded and it’s been getting corroded from all the hard water that’s coming back from the river.”

He notes the current system has been running for over 20 years.

“We can only build so many houses and put them on the main line, so this time we can build more homes on the line,” adds Daniels. “It should take probably about $2 to $3 million, and would be finished in a year or two.”
