Waterdown bypass delayed by Indigenous consultation dispute – The Hamilton Spectator

HDI says no more work can go ahead until the city deals with its consultation concerns.

Hamilton’s never-ending Waterdown bypass project is delayed yet again — this time over an Indigenous consultation dispute with the Haudenosaunee Confederacy.

The east-west portion of the $58-million road project, meant to redirect traffic north around the old village of Waterdown, has been undergoing on-and-off construction since 2016. Political debate over the bypass dates back to the 1980s.
