After successfully negotiating a 30-day pause in a cross-border tariff war that, up until yesterday afternoon, was poised to get underway at midnight, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is set to celebrate Lunar New Year at a reception in the National Capital Region, with Diversity, Inclusion and Persons with Disabilities Minister Kamal Khera and Small Business Minister Mary Ng also expected to join the festivities.
Meanwhile, New Democrat Leader Jagmeet Singh heads to Montreal to promote his party’s pitch to ‘Build Canadian, Buy Canadian,’ where, as per his office, he’ll “shop for local Canadian and Quebec products”alongside local city councillor and former New Democrat MP Craig Sauvé at a street market in the southeastern borough of Verdun, Que.
