Women’s Initiatives – Research Lead
The Chiefs of Ontario is inviting applications for a Research Lead: First Nations Intimate Partner Violence Risk and Danger Assessment Tools project (RADAT). The Research Lead will be a highly skilled professional who is a key part of a dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong research and writing skills, the ability to lead complex projects and related work experience. The Research Lead will report to the Chiefs of Ontario Director of Women’s Initiatives.
LOCATION: Hybrid – 468 Queen St East, Toronto and the employee’s home office.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will take a lead role in the final phase of the First Nations Intimate Partner Violence Risk and Danger Assessment Tools project (RADAT). Responsible for coordinating the launch of an Intimate Partner Violence Toolkit and facilitating development of online training modules, and other related duties pertaining to the Women’s Initiatives sector of the Chiefs of Ontario.
- Coordinate meetings and collaboration with project partners involved in developing and delivering online training modules to support First Nations in utilizing the First Nations Intimate Partner Violence Safety Assessment and Risk Management Toolkit; record and disseminate minutes to participants
- Provide regular updates to project Advisors on progress and facilitate discussion on decisions related to implementation and launch of the Toolkit and development of online training modules
- Maintain effective working relationships with consulting groups, software developers, First Nations leaders, service agencies and colleagues
- Produce reports, briefing notes and presentations to First Nations Leadership, technicians, governments, and other stakeholders as required
- Attend relevant external meetings and engagements as directed to advocate for the implementation of the Toolkit and measures to support training and accessibility of the Toolkit in First Nations communities
- Conduct broader research and analysis regarding gender-based violence and the efficacy of programs, strategies and initiatives to inform further work within the sector
- Travel as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary degree in a related field: Master’s degree preferred in Social Sciences or Bachelor’s level or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of First Nation traditions, governance structure, cultures, values, history and relationships with the governments of Canada and Ontario
- Preferred – 3 years’ experience working with First Nation community or organizations
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency in computer applications skills (word processing, spreadsheet, project scheduling, and internet)
- A valid driver’s license is an asset
- Interpersonal skills and able to work within a team setting, within organization, and external agencies.
- Must be trustworthy, reliable and maintain confidentiality
- Preferably fully vaccinated against COVID 19
