Police are still investigating last week’s shooting death

Some people on Big Island Lake Cree Nation are finding it hard to leave their homes after a recent shooting death and second report of gunshots Friday night that left bullet holes in houses.

“It’s scary for me to go to work. I don’t want to go but I have to … I’d rather be at home with my kids, keeping them safe because I’m the only one they have,” said Jocelin Sandfly, who manages the community store and gas bar.

She said the store’s hours of operation have been reduced because of the shootings.
