Press Release
This is a joint news release between the Government of Yukon and the Council of Yukon First Nations.
Leaders representing Yukon First Nations, the Council of Yukon First Nations and the Government of Yukon held the first Yukon Forum of the year.
Attendees included Yukon First Nations Chiefs, the Council of Yukon First Nations Grand Chief Peter Johnston, Yukon Premier Ranj Pillai and Government of Yukon Cabinet members.
Leaders discussed the status of Coroner’s investigations and inquests and the implementation of recommendations as well as the Yukon First Nations Procurement Policy. Leaders also had a strategic conversation on our shared interest and concerns related to Canada-United States relations.
The meeting took place on the Traditional Territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council in Whitehorse.
The Yukon Forum is a critical space for government-to-government collaboration, advancing solutions to some of the Yukon’s most pressing challenges. Together, the Yukon and First Nations governments are strengthening relationships, advancing reconciliation and delivering real progress. As our territory grows and faces new challenges, the Forum helps us unite around shared priorities and take bold action for a strong, resilient Yukon.
Premier Ranj Pillai
