A faculty of distinguished Aboriginal leaders and industry experts will address delegates and lead discussions on some of the most important legal, business, policy and other developments that are unfolding in the sector. Discussions will focus on implications these changes will have for Aboriginal communities and their constitutionally-protected treaty and other rights.
The 12th Aboriginal Oil and Gas Forum will also expand on the opportunities natural resource development can create for economic growth, employment and advancement for First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities. Presentations will cover the many practical issues and challenges that need to be addressed as the sector grows.
The Honorable David Ramsay, the Minister for Industry, Tourism and Investment in the Northwest Territories will deliver one of the keynote talks. He will discuss the devolution of land and resource rights in the Northwest Territories with a special focus on the future of northern oil and gas projects.
