Prime Minister Justin Trudeau received a warm welcome by dignitaries and students at Oskayak High School today in Saskatoon. Trudeau’s visit follows the recent announcement that $8.4 billion over five years will be invested to improve the lives of Indigenous people. This investment is “just a start,” Trudeau told the students in a pointed question period.
The event hosted questions from the media which focused on Indigenous issues. One reporter attempted to direct the PM to discuss the economy which Trudeau graciously bridged back to Indigenous education. As a former teacher, he talked about his commitment to listening to youth and his dedicated role as Minister Youth.
Three paintings were gifted to Trudeau by students along with a handmade guitar made by the Oskayak entrepreneurship program.
