Media Advisory – Ontario Energy Board Generic Hearing for Natural Gas Service to Ontario Communities

Press Release

CHATHAM, ON, May 4, 2016  – Natural gas is the most affordable source of energy for the home and costs significantly less than electricity, propane or oil. Today however, many rural and First Nations communities do not have access to natural gas.

For several years, Union Gas has advocated for new approaches to extend natural gas service to rural and First Nations communities where the cost to construct and operate natural gas infrastructure presents a significant economic hurdle.

The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) will be conducting generic proceedings to consider possible alternative ratemaking frameworks to provide natural gas service to Ontario communities that do not currently have access to natural gas.
