Fisher River Cree Nation members interested in being a part of the voluntary Justice Committee are to submit a letter of interest and mail or drop of at the band office.
The Ochekwiwanasowewin Justice Committee will serve to promote positive impacts on those who are in conflict with the law, the person who has been harmed, their respective families and the community while maintaining the objectives of the Justice System.
Eligible Applicants must be:
• A member of FRCN
• At least 18 years in age
• Residing on FRCN
• Shall be voluntary
• Be of good character and respected by others in the community
• Applicants for membership will be required to undergo initial Child Abuse Registry Checks and Criminal Record Check. A criminal record does not automatically preclude membership.
• Adherent to the FRCN Drug By-law 2004-01, sec. 8.01
Duties of Committee Members:
• To attend regular meetings and/or special meetings as needed
• The oath of confidentiality binds each committee member not to disclose the identity or circumstances of a young person or their family, other than to committee member and members of the justice system.
• Committee members be law-abiding citizens and shall not affect the credibility of the committee through their behaviors.
• Any member accused of a violation of the Criminal Code, Child Abuse or The Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, shall notify the committee of the charge.
• Other roles and responsibilities as assigned
