Press Release
Treaty One Territory, Manitoba _ Grand Chief Arlen Dumas wishes to extend his gratitude to Manitoba Hydro and the front line workers from SaskPower, Hydro One and Minnesota Power on their dedicated and tireless efforts to assist our First Nation communities that were heavily impacted by the recent storm.
“What a tremendous effort. We must commend them on their willingness to work long hours in poor conditions to restore power to our communities,” said Grand Chief Dumas. “We also need to acknowledge their time spent away from home during the Thanksgiving weekend and beyond. To accomplish the amount of work they have with no major injuries in such a short period of time is remarkable.”
As of 3 p.m. this afternoon, line power was fully restored in Dauphin River First Nation. Power is being supplied to Lake St. Martin First Nation via diesel generator. Little Saskatchewan First Nation has had their power restored but running water remains an issue. Risk of flooding threatens the entire Interlake Region, and AMC urges all citizens to remain vigilant and remain safe.
