This decision has been made following consultations with the Rama First Nation Emergency Control Group, after considering the escalating impacts of the storm, which has caused significant damage to infrastructure, power outages, hazardous road conditions, flooded basements, and downed trees and power lines.
While we expect conditions to improve overnight, the ice storm continues to create dangerous conditions throughout Rama First Nation, and the power outage persists. Crews are actively working to clear debris, restore hydro, and address the damage, but additional time and safety measures are needed.
