Press Release
Last Thursday, the Indigenous Chamber of Commerce (ICC) hosted its much-anticipated annual Neebing Golf Tournament, drawing together members of the business community, Indigenous leaders, and partners for an afternoon of sport and celebration.
Held just outside the city at The Player’s Course, a scenic Indigenous-owned and operated golf facility, the event took place under perfect summer skies, offering an ideal setting for networking and friendly competition.
The tournament kicked off at 1:30 p.m. with a total of 72 participants, organized into 18 teams of four. Players came from a variety of sectors, showcasing the diversity and strength of Indigenous entrepreneurship and community leadership. From seasoned golfers to first-time players, everyone brought enthusiasm and team spirit to the greens.
Throughout the course, participants competed for several on-the-green prizes, which added an extra layer of excitement to the afternoon. Awards were presented for:
In addition to the competitive prizes, the ICC was proud to offer a generous prize pool with 10 donated prizes from community sponsors. The grand prize included tickets to the Banjo Bowl, as well as a one-night stay at the Wyndham Garden Hotel, making for an unforgettable weekend package.
These contributions were made possible through the generous support of our sponsors, whose commitment to uplifting Indigenous business networks continues to make events like this a reality. A 50/50 raffle was also held toward the end of the day, with the total prize pot reaching up to $740, further adding to the excitement and community-driven spirit of the event.
The tournament concluded around 4:30 p.m., with players gathering afterward for a buffet dinner. The meal provided an opportunity to reflect on the day, connect with fellow attendees, and celebrate the continued growth of Indigenous commerce in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
The ICC extends its heartfelt thanks to all participants, volunteers, sponsors, and staff who made the event a success. The Neebing Golf Tournament continues to grow each year, and we look forward to seeing everyone again next season.
