MPs return to the capital as Team Carney faces confidence test – iPolitics

After a week-long pause in regular parliamentary programming, MPs are set to return to their assigned seats in the House of Commons chamber later this morning to begin the last round of debate on the budget plan unveiled by Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne earlier this month.

As of this morning, there was still no word on whether Prime Minister Mark Carney’s minority Liberal government had secured the necessary cross-aisle support to come out on the winning side of the final make-or-break vote, which, as per longstanding parliamentary protocols, will take place tonight, and is automatically considered a question of confidence.
