Kirkland Lake OPP, members of First Nations community light Tree of Hope – Northern News

On Monday evening (Nov. 17), members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, Beverhouse First Nation and Matachewan First Nation gathered at the Kirkland Lake detachment office for the fourth annual Tree of Hope lighting ceremony.
The Tree of Hope was created to honour and bring awareness to missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls (MMIWG), 2SLGBTQQIA+ persons and to honour survivors, their families and communities in Canada. The red lights representing the missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls, two-spirit or gender diverse person and the blue lights represent the support of police services.
