It is a profound honour and privilege to welcome you back to Canada on behalf of Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada.

We are gathered today on the traditional territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabeg Nation, who have cared for this land for thousands of years.

During your visit, I hope you will notice how Indigenous peoples are being recognized for the invaluable contributions they make to our country.

We are proud of the progress Canadians have made on the path towards reconciliation.

It speaks to their commitment to fostering understanding and working together for the common good.

These values also unite Sweden and Canada in a long-standing friendship.

Our two nations share a strong tradition of collaboration—from advancing peacebuilding to defending democracy and human rights on the international stage.

And the future holds even greater possibilities.

Recent years have brought sweeping changes to our world. We have witnessed unprecedented challenges that test the resilience of our societies.

Our friendship is more important than ever.

We look forward to deepening our co‑operation as Arctic neighbours and allies.

I am confident that, together, we will continue to advance and grow stronger—in defence, in trade and in all areas that help make our nations, and our world, a better place.

Your Majesties, I wish you a productive and memorable visit.
