The Council of Yukon First Nations (CYFN) will begin offering supports to Yukon First Nations and Indigenous youth as they leave government care after receiving federal approval to run the program, the organization said in a news release.
Funding from Indigenous Services Canada will allow the organization’s Family Preservation Services to provide financial, educational and cultural help for eligible youth and young adults between 19 and 26, according to the release.
Supports delivered through the Council of Yukon First Nations began in January, spokesperson Stephanie Joe said, though the federal funding approval was formally announced on March 9.
