N.S. First Nation creates own law around cannabis control – 101.5 The Hawk

A Nova Scotia First Nation has now created its own law around cannabis control.

It’s called the Sipekne’katik Cannabis Control Law and according to the Chief and Council it gives the First Nation the right to govern itself, make its own laws and manage its own affairs.

It means that Sipekne’katik has “exclusive jurisdiction” over how all cannabis-related activities are dealt with.

“Our movement forward is the protection and prosperity of our people,” says Chief Michelle Glasgow in a statement.
