Protecting the Great Lakes: MNO Great Lakes Advisory Group Virtual Lunch and Learn Sessions

The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Great Lakes Advisory Group is inviting citizens to learn more about the protection and stewardship of the Great Lakes through a series of virtual Lunch and Learn sessions this March.
These sessions will introduce citizens to the work being done to better understand and protect the Great Lakes. As part of the MNO’s Statement of Prime Purpose, the MNO works to protect and preserve the lands and waters within our homeland for future generations.

The sessions offer an opportunity for citizens who care about water, wildlife, and environmental stewardship to connect with the work of the Advisory Group and learn how they can get involved.
The Great Lakes have long been central to the lands and waters that Métis communities have lived alongside for generations. Protecting these waters, ensuring access, and safeguarding the species that depend on them remains a shared responsibility.

The sessions will also explore current issues affecting the Great Lakes region, including shoreline access and the protection of species at risk in wetland ecosystems.
Two sessions are currently scheduled and will take place on Zoom at 12:00 p.m. The first session, on March 19, will focus on shoreline access in Georgian Bay, while the second session, on March 26, will explore wetland species at risk.

Citizens interested in learning more about the Great Lakes Advisory Group and its work are encouraged to participate and stay tuned for upcoming opportunities.
