Employee accused of $6M-plus fraud involving Indigenous Guardians money – Times Colonist

The First Nations National Guardians Network administers funds for the program from the federal Department of Environment and Climate Change.

An employee at a national non-profit is accused of fraud involving more than $6 million in public funds earmarked for Indigenous Guardians programming.

The First Nations National Guardians Network, or NGN, provides funding, networking, training and education opportunities that support First Nations-led stewardship and sovereignty.

The federal government describes Indigenous Guardians as “eyes and ears on-the-ground,” monitoring ecological health, maintaining cultural sites, and protecting sensitive areas and species.
