Construction part of Indigenous Skilled Trades Training program curriculum
An Elder in Ginoogaming First Nation is in the process of moving into his very own tiny home — built by high school students in northwestern Ontario.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Tuesday in the Anishinaabe community, located 40 kilometres east of Geraldton off Highway 11, to mark the arrival of the 14-by-40 foot structure.
The one-bedroom, one-bathroom home was built by students at Hammarskjold High School in Thunder Bay who are part of the Indigenous Skilled Trades Training program. Meanwhile, students from Geraldton Composite High School — many of whom are from Ginoogaming — brought the project to the finish line by building the deck.
