QIA Launches Writing and Illustration Workshop for Inuit Youth

Iqaluit, Nunavut – April 8, 2026 – The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) is inviting applications from Inuit youth aged 18–30 to participate in an upcoming 5-day Writing and Illustration Workshop in Iqaluit from May 3–9, 2026.

This workshop is designed to support emerging Inuit creatives through hands-on learning, mentorship, and skill development in storytelling and illustration. Participants will work alongside experienced industry professionals to develop original content, including children’s stories and visual narratives grounded in Inuit knowledge, language, and lived experiences.

Through this program, participants will strengthen their creative skills, explore cultural expression, and build confidence in their artistic abilities. The workshop welcomes both writers and illustrators and encourages participants to create in either Inuktitut or English.

All travel and accommodations will be covered. Participants will also receive technology to support their continued creative work, as well as access to post-workshop mentorship.
