Funding announced for NSERC-CNSC Small Modular Reactors Research Grant initiative (Phase II)

The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) are pleased to announce $5.875M in funding over two years to support 25 research projects through Phase II of the NSERC-CNSC Small Modular Reactors (SMR) Research Grant Initiative.

This funding supports innovative research, emphasizing advancements in reactor safety, efficiency, and environmental impact. The work spans research on materials, fuel behaviour, environmental considerations, and the integration of advanced digital and secure control systems. It also includes broader studies on the operational and safety needs of emerging reactor designs.
