Indigenous youth bring Ontario mining, treaty rights fight to UN – Canada’s National Observer

First Nations youth leaders from northern Ontario are taking their fight against controversial federal and provincial development laws to the global stage, raising concerns over Ring of Fire mining, treaty rights and environmental protection to the United Nations.

Jeronimo Kataquapit, a 21-year-old from Attawapiskat First Nation and founder of the youth movement Here We Stand, is travelling with four young people from communities in Treaty 9 territory to New York next week.
