New Saugeen Beach sign expected to go up in fall 2026
More than nine months after members of Chippewas of Saugeen First Nation quietly changed the well-known “Sauble Beach” sign to read “Saugeen Beach,” more permanent changes are coming to the lakeshore community.
Saugeen First Nation recently wrapped up a contest to select a brand new design for the sign, which stands at the the end of Main Street where the pavement meets the sand.
It comes after a years-long battle to confirm the band’s ownership of a disputed piece of beachfront.
