April 17, 2026
TNDC is pleased to announce two significant promotions that support the company’s long-term growth strategy and reflect our commitment to promoting from within and fostering long-term career pathways for those who embody our values. Gavin Day has been promoted to HEO Training Superintendent and Jennifer Hanak appointed Vice President, People & Safety.
Gavin Day – HEO Training Superintendent: Transitioning from HEO Trainer to HEO Training Superintendent, Gavin will lead the heavy equipment operator training department, responsible for the overall delivery, direction and impact of the training programs. This leadership role is critical to ensuring our operations are not only effective but also the gold standard for safety and consistency in the region. His scope will include planning, supporting and developing other trainers, working closely with other departments to ensure our team is aligned with overall company goals, and implementing improvements that will benefit the training department and company. Instrumentally, he will ensure all training initiatives remain rooted in both TNDC and Tahltan values and underpinned by safe practices.
Jennifer Hanak, Vice President, People & Safety: Rising from Director of Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), Jennifer assumes the newly created executive position of Vice President, People & Safety, after serving as Interim Human Resources Director since February 2026. Integrating Human Resources, HSE, workforce development and corporate culture, this role is a strategic evolution for TNDC, designed to integrate our workforce and safety cultures under a single, unified vision. It will ensure TNDC builds a high-performing, safe and aligned organization capable of delivering on current operations and future growth, while respecting and supporting Tahltan culture and community priorities. Leading both teams in this new role, Jennifer will be responsible for developing and implementing programs and initiatives across Health, Safety & Environment, Workforce Strategy & Development, Corporate Culture & Employee Experience, Tahltan Workforce & Cultural Alignment, and HR/Safety Governance & Risk Management.
“These appointments are a reflection of TNDC’s goal to create an environment where high performers see a clear path from entry-level positions to the senior executive suite. We are committed to providing the resources and opportunities necessary for employees to reach their full potential. Growing the scope of our training department under Gavin’s leadership underscores our strategy to build skilled local Tahltan talent. Merging the critical functions of human resources and safety under Jennifer’s leadership ensures safety and the well-being of our people remain the bedrock of our success as we scale.” TNDC CEO Todd den Engelsen.
