SCN Councillor’s passing leaves empty seat – Wetaskiwin Times

There will be an empty seat at the Samson Cree Nation Band Council table following the death of Coun. Ryan Lightning last week.

The 39-year-old two-term councillor had been fighting cancer when he passed away. His funeral was April 13 and SCN Chief Vernon Saddleback said Council honoured his life at the ceremony.

“I was shocked (when I heard the news),” said Saddleback. “We thought he was in recovery.”
