Expression of Interest – Mi’gmaq Artists

The Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government is seeking Expressions of Interest from Mi’gmaq artists, to contribute artwork for a dedicated Mi’gmaq interpretive space within the Vieux-Quai waterfront project.

As part of this development, we will have our own interpretive table and custom image frames that will share our stories, history, and ongoing relationship with the Restigouche River. This is an opportunity to ensure Mi’gmaq voices, perspectives, and artistic expression are prominently represented in a public space.

Interested artists must submit their expression of interest to ecdev@listuguj.ca. The deadline for expressions of interest is May 8, and we anticipate receiving all images by June 5.

Project Opportunities
Selected artist (s) may be invited to create artwork for:
• 12 interpretive images for display on a water-frame panel for rotating visuals
• 1 permanent metal-cut style image as a lasting public installation
• Accent designs for the content table

Artwork Specifications
• Artwork must be in 11 x 17 inch format
• Files must be high-resolution/print quality
• Resolution must be suitable for enlargement up to 10 feet in size without major quality loss

Themes May Include
• Glooscap and the Giant Beaver story
• The Restigouche River as identity, travel route, and food source
• Tjigog and early Mi’gmaq presence
• The 1760 Battle of the Restigouche
• Salmon, stewardship, and livelihood
• Migwite’tm ’81 and the salmon raids
• Mi’gmaq resilience, rights, and future generations
• Mi’gma’gi as unceded territory
