Prairie Green Landfill Search Bulletin #7

The humanitarian search site at the privately owned Prairie Green Landfill, which successfully recovered the remains of Morgan Harris and Marcedes Myran, has officially been decommissioned.

The search was completed and decommissioned in a safe and fiscally responsible manner, with a final cost of $18.4 million, a fraction of previous estimates that ran as high as $184 million.

The search of targeted zone at the Prairie Green Landfill began Dec. 2, 2024. Human remains found were identified as Morgan Harris and Marcedes Myran, both of Long Plain First Nation. The search at the Prairie Green Landfill officially concluded July 9, 2025, after which specialized equipment and personnel were transitioned to the City of Winnipeg’s Brady Road Landfill. The conclusion of the search was commemorated with private ceremonies that honoured the lives of Morgan Harris and Marcedes Myran and the strength of their families throughout the difficult journey.
