Press Release
May 5 marks Red Dress Day, the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S).
On this day, we honour and remember Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit individuals who are missing or have been found murdered in communities across Canada. Many cases remain unresolved.
The ongoing and historic violence against Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit people is a national tragedy that cannot be ignored. Urgent action is needed to address the root causes of this violence.
All people deserve to live in safety, free from violence and abuse.
We encourage everyone to wear red on this day to show support, raise awareness, and stand in solidarity with families and communities.
