Environment and Natural Development with Qalipu First Nation busy with research projects – 100.1 BayFM

In 2017, the group completed a climate change risk assessment and a wetland delineation project. Sullivan says they have a joint partnership working on ocean research.

The Environment and Natural Development department with Qalipu First Nations is looking over recent research into the Pine Marten. On bayfm’s Qalipt Today, Director Ian Sullivan spoke about something they just finished called “the Long Range Biodiversity Project,” which dealt with some species at risk.

Sullivan says more research focused on the “Aquatic Connectivity project assessing rivers going through culverts to ensure salmon and trout would have continuous passage. In 2017, the group completed a climate change risk assessment and a wetland delineation project. Sullivan says they have a joint partnership working on ocean research. He says they’re planning an event for June 8th at the Majestic Lawn to recognize World Oceans day.
