Guilty plea and land transfer expected in Saugeen First Nation site disturbance case – Owen Sound Sun Times

A landowner who disturbed an archeologically significant site near the mouth of the Saugeen River at Southampton is transferring land and donating money to the Saugeen First Nation.

According to a notice posted online by the Saugeen First Nation, an Ontario Court of Justice hearing will be held on Tuesday inside the James Mason Community Centre to formalize a plea agreement for the case.

In 2022, a person and an Ontario numbered company were charged with disturbing a registered archaeological site and demolishing a building without a permit.
