Press Release
May 3, 2026
Based on the latest monitoring and surveillance reports received today, we are now in the downgrading phase of alert levels and are now at Level 5.
This means that flooding is no longer imminent, and the evacuation process has been paused. While water levels remain high, they are no longer increasing and have begun to stabilize.
We would also like to inform community members that ice jams are still present around the Island. However, water is now gradually finding its way out into the bay. Although conditions are improving, these ice formations remain unstable.
For your safety, please continue to use caution around all shoreline areas and ice buildup. Ice jams can shift or move without warning and may pose a risk.
We recognize that this has been a stressful and uncertain time for many. We want to thank all community members for your patience, cooperation, and the care you have shown for one another. Your support and understanding have been essential in helping our community navigate this situation safely.
We will continue to monitor conditions closely and provide updates as needed.
Stay safe and take care.
