For the first time, Canada’s 2026 Census of Population will include questions specifically about experiences of homelessness. This is a meaningful step toward ensuring homelessness is visible in our national data, and one that carries real consequences for the people whose lives too often go uncounted.
Yet those this Census was designed to count are often the last to hear about it. That’s where all of us come in — spreading the word, particularly to those couch surfing or doubling up, is one of the most important things the sector can do right now.
