A recent court ruling involving Indigenous title and privately owned land in B.C. is raising questions about property rights, development and reconciliation efforts across the province.
South Okanagan-West Kootenay MP Helena Konanz is calling on Ottawa to provide clarity following the B.C. Supreme Court’s decision in the Cowichan Tribes case, which she says has created uncertainty for landowners and businesses.
Speaking in the House of Commons, Konanz raised concerns about the implications of the court’s ruling in the case of Cowichan Tribes v. Canada.
